Identifying Mold Types:
When doing a mold removal project, some people like to know exactly what type of mold they are dealing with. With over a 1000 different types of mold in the US, it is very hard to tell what type of mold is growing just by looking at it. In fact, if you have a “remediation professional” claim that a certain mold is xyz just by looking at it, I would stay away from that person! Mold can only be identified when looked at with a microscope. The fact that a mold is black for example, doesn’t mean that it is THE BLACK MOLD. (STACHYBOTRYS) There are around 30 different kinds of mold that can appear black. Only one is the BLACK MOLD.
